Time To Say: Purpose, An Evening With Wincey

Have you ever been ostracized, felt like a misfit, out of sorts or misunderstood?  Have you ever been told you can't when you know in your heart of hearts you can, but still ask the question of when or better yet, will you?  Many of us can identify with these thoughts and feelings.  However we know that God is the Conquerer And we know that all things work together for good to them that love the Love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.....Romans 8:28 kjv

This night is where the journey began, An Evening With Wincey.
Time To Say by Wincey, CD www.winceycomusic.com

This anointed woman of God took us through a journey of her life through song.  If you think a young woman of her stature doesn't have enough experience for a compelling story, not only do you under-estimate her with gravity, you are flat out wrong.

Peter Cottontail foreshadowed this musical starlet.

At age five her first singing "gig" was as the star of the show, Peter Cottontail.  One could say she was bitten by the rabbit.  Her love for music, nurtured by her family catapulted her to her natural roots, The Church--incidentally the place she was initially shunned.   Sure she could sing the blues out of the stained glass.  However, her style was very different and in many instances considered non-traditional in the church, frowned upon.  Wincey had a Jazz, R&B feel to her music and as velvety as her voice may have been, it wasn't deemed an acceptable style of music.

After rejection, Wincey began to lean heavily on her secular influences including Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald.  One can't deny, good music emerges from these song birds, music of  and for the time.  Because of an older sibling she was also familiar with mega groups like the Spinners, more mature R&B music.  In fact, because she was the only one in her group familiar with a spin--yes pun intended--on an old school favorite, Spinners It's A Shame, she  landed a spotlight gig touring with a popular mainstream artist.

Wincey & MoniLove

Let Wincey tell it, as fast as she was on the road, singing with Tina Turner, Sting, and others, she was off of the road.

Wincey & Tina Turner

"It is just how show business is..."  She reminds us.  She couldn't go back to a 9 to 5, she had burned that bridge telling her boss, using finger waves, snaps and neck rolls, that when he saw her again she would be a rich and famous star.  Upon her return, she was a star alright, she just didn't know it yet.

Wincey and her sister co-created a series of Musical workshops called African American Discovery Through Music. This series allows Wincey to go into the schools and teach children about the brilliance of the Slave Ancestors, unsung African-American Inventors, Anti-Bullying, Anti-Drugs and the overall promotion of healthy self-esteem and living, in our children.  Winceyco Programs offer extensive info-tainment and are still going strong--some twenty years later--today.

Wildly successful are the many programs through her company WinceyCo, however around 2008 an embyro had been placed in seat of her soul--her own CD. According to Wincey, her CD would have emerged years ago.  According to God, now is The Time To Say.

Single, I Remember

God had to take her through a series of hills and valleys, tragedies and triumphs to get her to get what He purposed her to do.  Many often witness fruits of a journey but wouldn't want to take that person's journey.  But God purposed Wincey, not only spread the Gospel through music, but to Worship Him.  He purposes Wincey to remind us of why we worship Him and she educates us on How to Worship Him.

You may think the reason Worship leaders, through the word, song, dance and service call for us to stand and clap to make sure we are awake. With "An Evening with Wincey" you learn that a clap is a thunderous blow to the enemy.  When you stand and stomp your feet, Angels take notice; you are prepared for battle.  Isn't it powerful to know what you do and why you do it?

In a crystal, melodic and lush toned voice, in concert and on her CD, Wincey sings you through the musical styling of Swing, Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, Classical and Gospel and it is all about her love of  and in Christ Jesus. She inpsires peace and a filling, yes a Holy Spirit feeling that blankets us from above.  What resonates with me much is the enlightenment she bestows:  tune into what is being said opposed to how it is being said for "Gospel is a Message, not a Genre" ~Wincey

This is where the night ends, An Evening With Wincey, an evening of searingly good music.

    1. I agree with Dr Hardy. This is an awesome blog and beautifully written. You never now the obstacles a person has faced and is facing. What an individual has pressed passed and is pressing past to do what God placed them here in the earth to do. So proud of Wincey for stepping out with God and being brave enough to let Him do His thing through her. Its easy to say yes to the LORD but its sometimes challenging to Live that yes for His glory... God bless her richly. May He keep her safe and strong always and forever.
